Shiromuku

白無垢 ・ しろむく ・ shiromuku


All-white kimono ensemble worn for Shinto weddings. All-white wedding uchikake. The color white stands for pureness and innocence. 

White used to be the formal color for kimono for woman, both for happy and sad occasions. Shiromuku also can refer to the white kimono worn at a funeral by the dead person.

The term shiromuku also means plain white undyed silk fabric.
