Koma-nui

駒縫い・こまぬい・komanui

A couching or cording stitch. A stitch where a thicker, mostly gold or silver, thread is attached (held in place) to the base fabric with silk thread using small evenly spaced loops. A type of Japanese embroidery (shishu).

Koma-nui is often used to accent areas, using one or more outlines, or to fill an object (following the shape using a spiraling pattern).
